Baby Reynolds Gender Reveal

The Back Story

Telling Matt I was pregnant was the hardest secret I have EVER had to keep. I took a test early one morning after he left for workouts. I always dreamed of giving him baby Nike tennis shoes when I planned to tell him, so that’s exactly what I did. It was about 7:00 am when I took the test, so I had to wait until 10 for anything to be open! I luckily found the shoes pretty quickly at a store near our home. By the time I made it back, Matt was home and playing video games. I set the shoes up on the coffee table with a pregnancy test, and went and told him I needed his help with something. He walked into the living room and was SO excited to see the test. At first he couldn’t believe it, but then I hear him say I had the biggest feeling that you were! Seeing his face light up that he was going to become a dad was easily one of the greatest moments of my life.

The Weeks to Come

The weeks to come would be filled with excitement of telling our family and friends as well as nerves and anxiousness to see the baby. What most people don’t tell you, is from the moment you take a pregnancy test you have to wait 6-8 weeks to see that precious blessing and hear a heartbeat. Luckily, at 6 weeks the tech that did our ultrasound allowed Matt to come in and from the moment I heard that sound, my life really changed. It was really happening! Our prayers had been answered and in His perfect timing!

Dreams..

As it got closer to me being able to take the blood test to find out the gender, I started to have the most realistic and vivid dreams I have ever had in my life. While my cravings did mimic I was having a boy, I had other symptoms that yielded girl. From limes and lemonade to sour candy, I wanted anything tart! And still do (when im not pregnant I can’t stand limes or lime juice)

The week before our gender reveal though I woke up one morning to my dads voice telling me, “Its a boy, Sam” in a dream. I couldn’t see his face, but heard him speaking that to me and instantly woke up, and the week of the gender reveal I had a dream that Matt and I were popping blue cannons. From then on I was pretty dead set that we would have a baby boy running around come October but we would have been absolutely thrilled if it were a girl too! My best friend Tayler, had the results emailed to her so she and Kevin knew the gender the whole time and ordered the cannons through amazon (linked below!) Tay and I could hardly talk that week because she didn’t want to give anything away.

Prepping for The Big Day with Decor

As we had a very small gathering I just ordered simple things mostly through amazon that were cheap but so adorable! I had cupcake toppers with baseballs and bows, balloons of all kinds, a onesie, and tassels to line the island. I also ordered white star balloons and white regular balloons, made a very quick sign using Canva, and of course added a bucket of beer at the entry way! My best friends Tyler and Hailey sent me the most beautiful bouquet of flowers too, talk about making a girl feel loved from afar! My mom helped me via FaceTime set everything up once it had been delivered which was SO helpful as she is the party planning queen.

Food Was a Must

We kept it so simple and Tayler picked up Chick Fil A nuggets, I bought a fruit bowl from the grocery store (which I’m pretty sure I ate most of it myself), chips and dip, and I made Sprite Zero Funfetti Cupcakes! Truly the easiest dessert in the world and most people say they like the cupcakes more with the Sprite Zero than if you make them how the box says. Leaving the recipe here for you! My mother in law also surprised me with ADORABLE sugar cookies delivered the day of! Half were pink and half were blue and in the shape of rattles, ducks, and writing that said “he or she?”. All of the food was SO easy and simple!

The Big Reveal

First and foremost, I want to say not being able to have our parents and siblings as well as some of our best friends there was hard. I wish we could have all been together but we are SO appreciative and thankful that literally everyone was able to join our zoom call and witness the gender reveal together. It was one big online party! For our small group that made it, we can’t thank you guys enough for taking time out of your evenings to celebrate with us and be just as excited as we were to find out the gender.

We did the reveal pretty quickly after our friends got there because we couldn’t wait any longer! We set up the camera and zoom call, gathered around and counted down together. When blue came out I immediately jumped for joy and Matt threw his hands in the air (as you can see)!

The thought of having a mini version of my husband running around was a dream come true! I cannot wait to be this sweet boys mom and watch Matt love on him. The pictures and video truly embody the joy we feel and happiness of bringing a little boy into this world. We were both emotional and spent the rest of the evening celebrating with our friends, our family, and with each other that we were having a SON. I still can’t believe it. Matt and I are so blessed, thankful, and grateful for this pregnancy and bringing life into this world.
