Air Fried French Fries

in Recipes, February 18, 2019

Okay these fries are unbelievable and have almost zero oil in them. All you need is an air fryer. Air fryers are decently priced now, and you can do so much with them. Matt and I have fried veggies in them, and it’s a great way to change it up from the baked or steamed veggies that we usually do! Now, I need to tell you that these fries take some time to prepare and cook. I set aside about 45 minutes to prep them, and they need about 30 minutes to fry. If you don’t have an air fryer don’t worry! I have linked the one that we use and other options in my Like To Know It profile located HERE.

What you’ll need:

  • Air fryer
  • 2 Russet Potatoes (I usually do one regular sized potato per person)
  • 3 Tbsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 Tbsp Onion Powder
  • Pink Himalayan Sea Salt (to taste)
  •  1 Tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil

To make:

1. Clean dirt off of potatoes under warm water

2. Dry off both potatoes. Start by cutting one of them in half like so:

3. Place the halfed potato on its side and continue to slice until you have pieces like so. We like thin French fries so I included the thickness of the potato slices as well.

4. Slice potato slices into thin pieces. I’m not particular when it comes to all of them being the same size or length.

5. Places fries as you cut them into a bowl of ice cold water and let them soak for about 30 min. This is an important step as it helps them crisp up easier!

6. After 30 minutes, drain water and place fries on 2 layers of paper towels. Dab wet fries with a paper towel until somewhat dry or excess water isn’t falling off of them.

7. Turn on the air fryer at this point and click the fries setting. I let mine heat up for about 5 minutes before sticking the fries in.

8. Place the dried fries into a dry bowl, add olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder and salt. Use tongs to make sure all ingredients are evenly distributed on the fries.

8. Place in air fryer. Make sure the setting is on fries (its a picture). The temperature should be 400 degrees and they need to cook for 30 minutes. The more potatoes you have, the longer they’ll need. I check on ours every 7 minutes to move around the fries and make sure all of them are getting cooked.

9. When they are crispy and brown on the edges they are ready!

Enjoy!
