I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! These past few weeks have been an absolute blessing with my husband and family. We were constantly traveling, but in the off season it’s worth it to see the people we love! I wanted to share one of my favorite gifts to give this Christmas with each of you. It was a night I’ll never forget, and could be such a fun thing to do for a girls night out.

A little background information:
When my sister and I were little we loved to see our grandparents. They live very close to my parents, so I remember spending summer days swimming in their pool, picking strawberries in the backyard, and having sleepovers whenever my parents needed a break (shocker because we were perfect children! HA). One thing that particularly sticks out to me and my sister was that my grandma, Pat, would ALWAYS play Phantom of the Opera in her car. We quickly made it a tradition to listen to it together and eventually knew every word.

Anyway, this Christmas, my sister, MacKenzie, found that the tour was coming to Dallas, which meant we would see Phantom of the Opera-live! It also meant I would experience my first show as an adult! We purchased tickets for my mom and grandmother and decided to make a girls night out of it. We surprised them with the tickets on Christmas, and the reaction was everything I had hoped it would be. Pat was crying tears of joy and my mom was screaming with excitement.

I made reservations at an Italian restaurant called Saint Rocco’s New York Italian which is located at Trinity Grove and just 10 minutes from where the show was playing. We drank wine, ate way too much pizza and pasta, and enjoyed each other’s company so much I didn’t want it to end. During dinner my grandma and mom told stories of their trips to different countries and all of the amazing shows they saw along the way. My grandma’s experiences are truly incredible. I actually learned at dinner that night that she saw the original Phantom of The Opera in London, so she was a major fan!

After dinner, we headed over to the show and found our seats. I was like a kid in a candy store and blown away by the experience. People were crying during the performance because it was so moving. I sat next to Pat and the look on her face was pure happiness. Who would have thought that 20 years after listening to the Phantom of the Opera on a cassette tape in the car, I would have the opportunity to see the show with my grandma?

If you and your girlfriends or family members are looking for a fun night out I highly suggest doing this. The show took place at Dallas Music Hall at Fair Park. There are always shows going on. Book a reservation to have dinner and drinks at Trinity Grove and you’re all set! There’s tons of restaurants on the boardwalk and the ones I’ve been to are delicious. If you don’t live in Dallas, most of the performances tour, so check your local event venue! Loved this night so much.
